Parents are often trying to find activities to work on with their child the summer before he/she begins his/her kindergarten career. It’s a way of making sure your child will be “ready to begin” the school year.
Here are some things you can practice at home to make sure your child has a great start:
*my child can identify when to use and use the bathroom independently
*my child can take care of personal items (shoes, coat, lunchbox, backpack)
*my child can follow multi-step directions
*my child can ask for help when he/she needs it
*my child can identify upper and lower case letters in a random order
*my child can say the sounds of each letter without a visual clue
*my child can count to 30 (or higher)
*my child can identify the numbers 1-10
*my child can write his/her first name with upper and lower case letters in the correct spots
*my child can cut on the line with a scissors
*my child can color in the lines (or close to) with crayons
*my child can tie (or velcro) own shoes
